Just A Pig

As the man opened the door
and let me out of the pen
to run around the yard I thought
oh no please not again.

There was no place for me to hide
and I could not get away
so I tried to hide behind a bush
but I knew I was not safe.

First the man turned loose a dog
that sniffed around and found me
They call him a "tracking" dog
and he just stood there barking.

Next the man and his so called friends
while drinking beer and laughing
turned loose their big, bad "catch" dogs
then I knew that I had had it.

One dog caught me by my throat
and the other by my ear
and they shook me like a rag doll
While I screamed from pain and fear.

The men they were all gleeful
and the dogs were having fun
but then they pulled the dogs off me
and I was left alone.

Then after a few minutes passed
they let the dogs loose again
and this game of theirs went on and on
until my life came to an end.

You poor little creature........I am sorry for your pain.
My heart still hurts.......my tears still fall.....
because this story will happen again.

Oh, my God, I can't even stand to read this anymore as I update these pages - my heart just shatters and I dissolve into tears every time!

~* A Seldom-Mentioned Abuse ~*

Ever heard the term 'See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil'?  Who hasn't, right?  Every time that saying comes up, whether spoken or in print, I just get furious inside!   It is NOT 'cute'!   For some reason, it seems to have become popular again, being marketed (mostly through mail-order, it seems) on T-shirts, coffee mugs and the like (with adorable animals, no less, in the poses), and I couldn't be more horrified.

Has anyone ever stopped to consider the meaning, the weight, of that statement?

Translation: Just turn your face away and pretend that nothing horrible is going on at the neighbor's house, at that farm over there, in the school's science lab.  Never mention it: that would be admitting that it's happening, and that no one's doing anything about it.

  It's not 'polite' to bring up ~ or listen to ~ such subjects, and it's plenty uncomfortable to boot.  Besides, why bring attention to yourself by speaking up and possibly being ostracized by all the people ye know and love?  Right?  *bzzzzzzztt*  Wrong!  Thanks for playing ~ bye-bye now!

This very human refusal to accept that evil exists in the world only helps perpetuate the abuse, only helps the seriously vile, disgustingly sick people work unfettered, unexposed, undefeated!

This Seldom-Mentioned Abuse of Innocent, Non-consenting Animals? 

Sexual Abuse.

Yeah.  It's Nasty.

And it's Not Just a Joke.

The folks at the site below are unimpeachable Angels!  The seamy underside of humanity is something that good people rarely want to see or hear about ~ it jolts them out of their comfort zones, and people don't like discomfort (any more than the animals do!), don't like squirming in their skins when faced with something this shocking.

 But that's not helping the innocent victims!

These messengers of God, however, are facing the horrible reality of this abuse head-on, and working to END it.

While most of the text (case histories, and the myriad concerns inevitably brought up) is graphic and disturbing (there are NO PICTURES), this is nevertheless simply an EXCELLENT site, and a most noble endeavor for the animals!

The Circus Animal

I am the circus elephant
I'm all dressed up for you -
but when alone, I always wear
these chains, just out of view.

A rare sight to behold;
when whips are snapping near my face
it's hard to stay controlled.

I am a noble creature
I'm not a circus clown.~

The saddest choice you humans make

you make me dance, you make me prance
a circus ring around.

When I am tired or sad or sick,
you strike and prod with club or stick ~
I want to run, to play, to roam,
I miss my far, beloved home.

I have no voice you understand,
and simply set me free.

I hear there are some circuses
where only you perform.
I hope that someday soon, perhaps,
they will become the norm.

* Please boycott animal circuses!  They're just wrong, and our children need to know that!  Support Cirque du Soleil and others like them ~ they're amazing, and they don't resort to harming animals for the sake of entertainment! *

The two heartrending poems on this page are from a wonderful site: All Creatures Dot Org.  This bible-based site is just packed to the gills, as it were, with compassion for everyone ~  stories, resources, recipes, ye name it!  And how 'bout this juicy concept for people who love God AND animals?

I signed a petition this evening at The Petition Site, and I am so incensed with this degraded perversion that somehow manages to pass for a venerable, centuries-old European custom (that some losers think should be upheld?!?! !!), that there was no way I couldn't include the following paragraph with my signature:

Centuries old it may be (oh my God, how many undeserving, rendered-defenseless bulls is that?), but...venerable, my left butt cheek!!!!  And come to think of it, I ain't sorry I wrote all that!!
